I have to confess that I have an obsession, perhaps an unhealthy one, and it involves a quite corruptible man by the name of Anthony Bourdain.
A well known chef, who travels all over, and gives me his 2 cents on all the nasty bits of places like Poland – Ireland – Cleveland, while he swears, smokes 2 packs a day, and drinks at every opportunity. I love this man. Maybe he fulfills the inner cynic that I am, but I just can’t get enough of him. I have seen every episode of his travel show, No Reservations, and I am now reading his books.
If you are a foodie like myself, as is much of my family, you may enjoy Anthony’s escapades. Be warned though, just like the disclaimer at the beginning of his show, he is not for the faint of heart.

my wife and I are huge fans.
i will have to check it out definitely.
I was just wondering about his logo “Cook Free or Die” can you tell me exactly what he means by it? Just wondering ’cause I’m also a fan, I just haven’t read all his books yet lol
Though Dre will probably never see this, “Cook free or die” is mostly hyperbole…I think. Basically, he is stating that if you do not cook with passion, imagination, and a healthy disregard for rules and social norms, you are worthless and better off dead:) More literally though, I think he is saying that if you do not cook with an open mind and palate, adhering only to the pursuit of your enjoyment of the experience of both preparing and eating, then you will never find the true pleasure that food can offer. In other words, strictly following a recipe or doing as others tell you will never lead to a unique culinary experience that you can say is your own. However, he often emphasizes the shared experience of dining with others as being the main ingredient in a memorable meal, so “cooking free” is also the only chance you have to enhance the culinary lives of others, not just yourself.
Ah ok, I figured it would be something along those lines just wasn’t sure, but yea that makes sense, thanks!
